발보아 파크 팀켄 미술관을 다녀 왔다.
중앙에 위치하였음에도 무료로 운영되는 곳이다.
특별 전시회는 'Matt Rich - P&!NTING'이었다.
사각형 캔버스와 평면을 벗어나 다양한 시도를 하고 있는 Matt Rich가 팀켄 미술관에 상주하면서 다양한 작품을 완성하였다고 한다.
현대 미술은 단순하면서도 복잡하다.
그 외에 팀켄 미술관에서 보유하고 있는 다양한 작품들을 만날 수 있다.

'Kehinde Wiley, Equestrian Portrait of Prince Tommaso of Savoy-Carignan (2015)'라는 이 작품도 특별하게 소개되고 있다.
이 작품은 아래의 'Equestrian Portrait of Thomas Francis, Prince of Carignano'를 오마주한 것인데 길거리에서 캐스팅한 모델과 유럽의 전통적인 포즈를 결합시켜 새로운 느낌을 자아 낸다.
일단 285cm x 300cm의 크기 부터 관객을 압도하는데 사용된 색감과 패턴이 눈을 어지럽혀 가운데 초상화에 집중하게 만든다.
